H2About Kristin
I love that writing is never perfect. We can always improve, polish, and refine our creations. Whether your student needs help developing ideas, refining a thesis, improving clarity and flow, brainstorming, understanding their instructor’s expectations, or polishing grammar and citations, I can help.
My specialty is college admissions and scholarship essay writing, as well as general academic writing, but I’m also happy to help out with professional and creative writing! I’ve evaluated college admissions essays at the institutional level, which has given me insight into what reviewers are truly looking for. I bring over twenty years of experience tutoring all areas of English to my work and currently tutor postsecondary students, many of whom are in high school, exclusively online in college admissions, scholarship, and academic writing.
My snuggly pup, Jupiter.
I firmly believe that learning is a shared process between student and teacher. I take inspiration from Hemingway: “As a writer, you should not judge. You should understand.” Taken loosely, I feel like this applies to teaching as well; my goal is always to meet students where they are and help them grow. Maxwell Perkins, Hemingway’s editor, said, “Just get it down on paper, and then we’ll see what to do with it.” He knew the editing process well and that writers are never without needing a little help along the way. Your student doesn’t have to do it alone.
