About James
I grew up in Broomfield, Colorado, attending Westlake Middle School and Legacy High School (class of ‘05). After graduating from the University of Colorado Boulder, I began tutoring full-time.
I first discovered that I enjoyed helping others with math in tenth grade at Legacy. A classmate sitting next to me would often get stuck, and I’d step in during class work time to help him make sense of the material. I never forgot the feeling when his “light bulb” moment came: his relief and sense of accomplishment, the simply joy of understanding, the warmth in my heart from having been able to help.
Since then, I’ve supported students across all levels, from young learners in elementary and middle school to adults returning to complete their college degrees. Tutoring is more than just work to me; it is my dream job. Every time a student tells me that they enjoy math again or that they feel confident in their class once more, I am reminded of the transformative power of my work.
My excellent teachers at Legacy were responsible for many of my successes and for shaping the person I have become. It’s been a privilege to do the same for the next generation, walking the same halls that I myself walked so long ago. I am deeply grateful to all the parents who have entrusted me with a piece of their student’s educational journey along the way.
When I agree to work with your student, I am invested in them full-time. When they are in a session with me, my time, energy, and knowledge are theirs. My mission is to be the best instructor, mentor, and ally to them that I can be.
